Remodeling the Nature of Man and Society
Carl Jung said, “The modern ‘enlightened’ intellect cannot imagine anything greater than … those tin gods with totalitarian pretensions who call themselves state.”
Yesterday I was able to find a circulator who had a petition for Paul LePage. You can see that I’ve signed his petition.
On Thursday night Paul refused to sign my petition when I offered it to him. He told me he doesn’t sign the petitions of his opponents. He claimed this is evidence of his competitiveness.
I see it as evidence of wanting to serve Maine in the style of a third world tin pot dictator. That same night Paul told me that he will return all the jobless nurses and doctors to work with back pay.
Republics don’t work this way. Totalitarian states give power to leaders who cut deals behind the scenes with powerful political and cultural forces in order to shut down debate. Dictators claim the power to hire and fire whoever they wish.
A constitutional republic is governed largely by civil debate, not the dictats of powerful men.
Paul Turn Le(the)Page should sign my petition so we can meet each other on the rhetorical field of battle and give all Maine Republicans an informed choice.
